The reason we started ITSL is we have personally witnessed the following life changing accidents due to lack of professional training.
When, you watch a young individual get their foot cut off because the crew lead hand is set up to be the crew boss prematurely, cause somebody who set him up felt he was ready (enough time on the job so he knows it). When you’re the one who has to drive the stump of the foot in your vehicle because in our state of mind and excitement (lack of training), when the boy was put in the vehicle that was taking him to the hospital some 40 miles away the foot was left behind. When you looking at the foot in the boot beside you, as your driving it you do a lot of thinking about lack of professional training.
When, you lift a piece of matting using your 4 leg bridle hitch that’s been used for a long time and you insert the hook in the end roll of the matting that has ice in it, thinking that the hook will break the ice and set itself (incorrect training on crew boss’s part). The ice did not break the hook did and very quickly that young man turned into a quadriplegic (you think a lot about the lack of professional training.
When, you go to a client and they hire you to train for them and some of your students tell you they already have had training on this course but, it was a short course) you have to question why a young man with a wife and two beautiful little girls is a quadriplegic.
All he was doing was placing a 150 pound electric motor in place with shaft pointing upward above his head. Hook in the eyebolt. Eyebolt broke.
When you watched that young family walking down the street, without their father or husband cause he is in a wheel chair you knew that the course of their lives was changed forever as a result of:
THE LACK OF PROFESSIONAL TRAINING
HOW MANY SUCH INCIDENTS AS THIS DO YOU KNOW OF?
